The cheapest was the Elements RV World Tandem, then Travellers Autobarn, Spaceships and Awesome Campers. Twelve weeks from Sydney, May to July 2027, was 2.189 € to 3,73 €, or 29 € to 49 € a day. The daily rate drops the longer you hire: the Spaceships Alpha was 59 € a day for one week in June and 39 € a day over 12 weeks. Hi-tops cost about twice as much: a month in a MightyLITE HiLITE was 2.129 € at the brand’s own price.

The brand’s price is the operator’s own website for JUCY, Spaceships, Awesome Campers and the thl brands (MightyLITE, Apollo, Britz). For the others it is the brand’s listed retail rate in the booking system we sell them through. The one-way fee on the long Melbourne to Cairns hire made little difference for most brands: a long hire spreads it thin.
Do campervan companies give long-hire discounts?
Several brands advertise lower daily rates for hires of 21 days or more, and the prices above show the effect. These totals are what the brands’ booking systems returned for those dates, so any long-hire discount they apply automatically is already in them. Early-booking deals and promo codes are not.

How do I keep a long campervan hire cheap?
- Start in low season. June in the south, or February to March in the north. The Elements RV World Tandem was 259 € less for a month starting in June than one starting in November.
- Go budget. A 2-berth wagon was half the price of a hi-top over a month. Over 12 weeks the gap was about 2.529 € to 6.309 €.
- Think about the bond. On a long trip, a 2.209 € to 3.159 € bond is held on your card for months. Cutting it to 0 € costs extra per day, so price that into the total before you choose. Read Campervan-Versicherung und Kaution einfach erklärt.
- Free camp where it is allowed. Campsites cost more than the van on a long trip. Our free camping guides list legal spots.
- Skip relocations for long trips. They are 0,64 € a day but only for a few fixed days. For a month or more, a normal hire is the only real option. When relocations are worth it.

Sometimes, but you take on rego, insurance, repairs and selling it at the end, and a breakdown is yours to fix. A hire includes roadside assistance, and repairs are the rental company’s job. For 3 months, the 2.189 € to 3.729 € hire totals above are a fair benchmark to set against a purchase.
