The Ostküste Australiens: 14-tägiges semi-geführtes Abenteuer books the same route in one go from 1.649 € (1.789 € if you start in December, January or July), with 12 nights of beds and a 2-night sail instead of 1. Two weeks: Brisbane to Cairns, not Sydney to Cairns

Sydney to Cairns is about 2,900 km by road. In 14 days you’d spend more time on the bus than at the beach. Two weeks fits Queensland’s big four: Noosa, K’gari, the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef. The day-by-day plan is in our 2-Wochen-Reiseroute für die Ostküste. If you need to start in Sydney, look at 17 days: the Sydney to Cairns 17-Day Semi-Guided Adventure gibt’s ab 1.899 €.

DIY budget, line by line

The tour and pass prices are ours, live. The beds and food figures are rough estimates, not our prices.

PostenWas dich erwartet
Greyhound East Coast Pass, 15 Tage die Woche219 €
Hostel beds, about 10 nights (K’gari camping and the boat cover the rest)roughly 229 € to 379 € (dorms run about 29 € to 39 € a night)
Food, 14 daysroughly 269 € to 449 € if you cook some of it; K’gari and the boat include most meals
K’gari 4WD tag-along, 3 days379 €
Whitsundays sail, 2 days 1 night289 €
Outer Great Barrier Reef day from Cairns179 €
Optional: Kajaktour in den Noosa Everglades129 €
Drinks, insurance, bufferyours to set; don’t skip insurance

Check the 15-day pass before the 14-day. On 27 October the 15-day East Coast Pass cost 219 € und die 14-Tage- 249 €. Pass prices don’t always go up with length, so check the next length up before you pay.

The three big tours make up more than half the DIY total. They’re also the ones that sell out in school holidays: a bus pass doesn’t hold you a seat on a boat. Book K’gari and the sail first.

The 14-day semi-guided trip

DIY or semi-guided?

On price they come out close. The DIY range above sits around the semi-guided Standard price. The semi-guided trip has two more beds booked, a second night on the boat and a surf lesson. DIY has the cooking-your-own-food savings and full freedom to change plans. The real difference is admin and risk: DIY means booking and timing every leg yourself, and losing a K’gari or boat seat in a busy week. A longer side-by-side is in Buspass vs. Gruppenreise vs. semi-geführt.

Was den Preis verändert

  • Reisemonat. December and January cost more everywhere: beds, boats and the semi-guided trip.
  • Dorm oder Privatzimmer. Privatzimmer kosten spürbar mehr als ein Bett im Dorm.
  • Sailing length. A 2-night sail costs more than a 2-day, 1-night one. See Whitsundays-Segeltour-Preisen.
  • Extras. A skydive, a dive on the reef or a scenic flight is extra on every option.
  • Drinks. Hier läuft bei den meisten das Budget aus dem Ruder.

Longer trips: 4 weeks on the East Coast: cost und die 21-tägigen Reiseroute mit echten Kosten.
